INDEPENDENT CANDIDATE TO FILE FOR US SENATE RACE QUALIFICATION FRIDAY MORNING IN TALLAHASSEE

Candidate to Submit No Party Affiliation Fee of $6,484 in order to Qualify and Run Against Democratic US Senator Bill Nelson and Republican Candidate Katherine Harris

Spring Hill, May 12, 2006:   Brian Moore, 62, a resident of Spring Hill, Hernando County, will be filing his candidacy this Friday morning in Tallahassee for the US Senate seat presently held by Democratic US Senator Bill Nelson.

Moore plans to enter the State of Florida Office of Elections around 10:45 AM to register his candidate forms and submit his qualification fee of $6,484.000 as an Independent candidate.

Moore said he raised the necessary funds over the last five days through his website:  www.votebrianmoore.com.  Over 65 people contributed, many from antiwar groups and national health advocates with whom Moore has worked with over the past five years.

Moore, for the last four years, has led the NatureCoast Coalition for Peace and Justice in antiwar demonstrations and vigils, throughout Hernando, Citrus and Pasco counties, part of westcentral Florida near the Gulf of Mexico.  The antiwar group is composed of approximately 140 members, with approximately 35 veterans, and they have demonstrated against the Iraq War, the Patriot Act, civil liberty violations and prisoner abuse and torture.  The group has held approximately 60 public demonstrations and 25 peace vigils.

Moore said his coalition has been subject to acknowledged covert surveillance by the Sheriff's Office of Hernando County, and the Coalition suspects that the federal authorities have also conducted its own spying and monitoring on the group's constitutional and legal activities.

Moore is running because he feels neither Bill Nelson nor Katherine Harris “have addressed the crucial issues of our times.”  Moore feels the Senate race will become a lackluster campaign, because both major party candidates are "wishy-washy," and limited in their capacity to lead.  Moore says they "are part of the same corrupted political system," where both party candidates rely on special interest and lobbyist monies, corporate dollars and permanent incumbency status among the press and media.  Moore expects to "create pressure on the two major candidates, prick the conscience of the press and the media, and push the populace for reform and change."

Moore says his candidacy is also making a clear statement that average Americans have a right to run for political office in our country, no matter how much or how little monies they have, even though public financing of elections will be essential in the future.  Our so-called "Democracy," said Moore, has become a corrupted system for the wealthy, privileged and powerful.  The Independent candidate also contends that America is a one-party system run by corporations and special interest money.

Moore faults the problems with immigration, Iraq and Iran, and the US foreign policy in general, with misguided economic policies of the United States and an overbearing corporate power structure in this country.

Brian Moore ran as an Independent candidate in 2002 for the U.S. Congressional District 5 seat against Incumbent Democrat Karen Thurman and Republican challenger, Ginny Brown-Waite.  Ms. Brown-Waite won by one percent of the vote.  Moore gained 2.6% of the vote, along with another independent, Jack Gargan, who received 3.5% of the vote.  Thurman was one of only four incumbents nationwide to lose her seat in the 2002 elections.  Some Democrats blamed Moore for being a “spoiler” in that election.

In 2004, Brian Moore ran as a Democratic candidate against three other Democrats in the primary.  He gained almost 23% of the vote, but the unknown well-to-do Democratic winner garnered 31% of the vote, and subsequently lost handily to Brown-Waite in the November General elections.

US SENATE CANDIDATE’S FIRST OFFICIAL ACT WILL BE IN MOTHER'S DAY ANTIWAR DEMONSTRATION

Protest to Highlight Widowed Mothers and Wives Resulting From Iraq War Casualties

Spring Hill, May 13, 2006:  Independent candidate Brian Moore, running for the US Senate position against incumbent Democrat Bill Nelson, will travel to Zephyrhills Sunday morning to the site of a peace demonstration on Mother's Day, from 10 AM to 12 noon, on US Highway 301, just north of the Medical Center in Zephyrhills.

The theme of the Mother's Day demonstration will highlight the ongoing deaths of the Iraqi people in the Iraq War, as well as the resulting trauma and loss inflicted on American mothers and wives who are bearing the tragic losses in the Iraq war.

The NatureCoast Coalition is sponsoring the protest for Peace and Justice, for which Moore is the co-founder and chair.  The coalition has held previous demonstrations in October of 2005 and March 2006 in Zephyrhills.

Moore has been involved in the antiwar movement since early 2002, almost a year prior to the start of the war in March 2003.  The Independent candidate appears to be the only US Senate candidate in Florida’s election of 2006 to have publicly protested the war, the Patriot Act and the threat to civil liberties of both foreign prisoners and American citizens.

The location of the demonstration selected will be between Pretty Pond Rd and Medical Center Avenue on the west side of U.S. 301, Gall Blvd.   The closest address is on the east side of US 301, the SunTrust Bank at 7344 Gall Blvd., Zephyrhills, FL  33541, or on the west side of US 301, the Hess Gas Station, which is 7317 Gall Blvd, Zephyrhills, FL   33541, FL.

Parking for demonstrators is available in the mall behind the Hess Gas Station off of US301.

Moore's Brazilian Experience Crucial to U.S. Congress and Voters In Light of New President

SPRING HILL, FL (Saturday, November 2, 2002) –  Independent congressional candidate Brian Moore reported Friday, after the end of an AARP political forum in Spring Hill, that with the election of the new president in Brazil last Sunday, Moore's Brazilian experience make his candidacy to Florida's District 5 voters "more crucial now than ever before."  Moore said the international economy, including the South American market, where Moore lived and worked, will have a "major impact on our economy that will even trickle down to affect District 5 seniors' Social Security and cost-of-living increases annually."

Moore worked in Latin America for almost seven years, three of which were as a United States Peace Corps Volunteer in Panama and Peru.  For four years the independent candidate also worked as a health program consultant, mostly in Brazil, and with additional stints in Colombia, Guatemala, Mexico and the Dominican Republic.

Brazil's newly elected president, former union boss Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, called "Lula," according to the New York Times, is "unnerving international financial markets," and "causing concern in the Republican White House" due to Silva's criticism of free-market policies "which are at odds with Washington."    The Times went on to say that Lula's election could "complicate President Bush's goal of creating a hemispheric free trade zone by 2005."  In a second article in the New York Times this week, the writer reported that "a dozen members of the United States Congress recently sent a letter to President Bush warning of Mr. da Silva's "longstanding relation with.....Fidel Castro."  The letter referred to Lula's recent remarks criticizing the Nuclear Non-proliferation treaty.  The U.S.  congressmen "raised grave questions concerning the international policies ...Brazil might pursue under Lula's presidency."

Moore has worked extensively in Brazil as a public health program consultant and fundraiser, establishing programs to de-worm hundreds of thousands of children in the favelas and slums of Sao Paulo, Rio de Janiero and in the rural states in the northeast part of Brazil---the area where Lula was born and raised.  Moore has traveled back and forth from the United States to Brazil many times, and extensively within the South America's largest country, and is very familiar with the Brazilian culture, history and its political and social mindset.  Moore learned the languages of Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese during his working experiences there and throughout all of Latin America.

Moore contends that his unique skills and expertise would "lend another level of relevancy to Moore's candidacy for the 5th District, the United States Congress and even for the Bush Administration."  Moore also argues that his commitment to a fair trade policy over free trade, which has always been the platform for his reform party, plus his individual Brazilian skills, "lend additional credibility to his value as a U.S. congressman."

Moore said while living and working in Panama and Peru for three years as a U.S. Peace Corps Volunteer, prior to working in Brazil, he lived under two left-wing military governments that ran the countries with an iron hand.  Moore said "he saw how individual freedoms can be denied under undemocratic governments, which give him additional insight and concern regarding the domestic intelligence program President Bush is advocating for the nation.

MOORE SAYS HIS MESSAGE & ISSUES AFFECTED OUTCOME---INVITES CITIZENS TO JOIN "CONGRESS WATCH"

SPRING HILL, FL (Thursday, November 7, 2002) –  Independent congressional candidate Brian Moore (No Party Affiliation) said today that "both his message and issues" and "higher-toned campaign" during the race "directly affected the outcome of the race" in the Republican's Ginny Brown-Waite's win over the incumbent Democrat Karen Thurman of Florida's 5th congressional district.   Moore's 6,221 votes superceded the difference of the 4,241 vote outcome between Thurman and Brown-Waite (48-47%).  Moore contends his votes "came overwhelmingly from Thurman," plus he said that Ms. Brown-Waite began to "use Moore's themes against Thurman" as well.

Moore also is "inviting people" of the 5th district to join with him on a "congress watch" for the coming two years of Ms. Brown-Waite's first term.

The independent candidate, Moore, contends that his message of "home-town truths and living room issues" "resonated" not only with the voters, but both Ms. Thurman and Ms. Brown-Waite "started using the same message" ---Thurman frequently throughout the campaign and Brown-Waite in the end.  Moore said his second theme that "partisan politics blocks the district's interest" was especially picked up by Ms. Brown-Waite at the end of the campaign and also utilized by the other independent, Jack Gargan.

Moore's third and fourth themes blamed a "deadlocked, do-nothing congress" while simultaneously complimenting both incumbents (state senate & congress) in a higher-toned fashion, for "contributing to the district during their previous ten year incumbencies, but impacting little overall on the ongoing crisis affecting all aspects of our society."  Ginny Brown-Waite embraced these themes wholeheartedly, especially during the last week in her comments at the two highly publicized Good Government League and AARP forums and on television reruns and interviews during that time period as well.

Moore said that his "strong and clear stands" on the issues of advocating a universal health system, against authorizing the president very early on to go to war with Iraq based on pre-emptive reasons, Moore's call for more jobs and better pay and his relentless attack on the loss of integrity in Congress due to partisan political correctness, partisan politics and big interest money "placed him squarely to the left of Karen Thurman," he said.  Moore added "his campaign themes, stands-on-the-issues and higher-toned approach" gave some previous Thurman supporters or voters a "better alternative to Thurman's ambivalent positions in these areas," Moore said.

Moore contends that his 2.4% of the vote almost doubled the difference of Thurman's loss by a 1.4%  difference in the total.

Moore then changed his focus to the future, and is inviting citizens of the District to "Join with him on a "Congress watch" whose purpose is to oversee Mr. Brown-Waite's performance by do the following:

1.)  Monitor the newly-elected officeholder's adherence to campaign pledges and positions and announce all committee and floor votes that either support or reject those positions;

2.)  Monitor the officeholder's votes in relationship to campaign donations - how often will her votes reflect the interests of those industries which gave her money?

3.)  Monitor the Ms. Brown-Waite's party-line positions - how often will her votes and positions parallel the GOP's even if it hurts interests of the local area, especially when new legislation needs to be or is proposed?

4.) Monitor the officeholder's REAL record for the District - how often did Ms. Brown propose legislative or other solutions for local problems, how often did these solutions actually pass to become law or otherwise succeed, and how often did she fail or ignore the local needs  when acting so?

5.)  Monitor the officeholder's "hypocrisy rating" - when she votes FOR something positive in committee and AGAINST it on the floor or vice versa - and then later claims one or the other of those votes is her "record".

6.)  Maintain a list of local issues that the member of Congress can affect with legislation or leadership and tabulate Ms. Brown-Waite's track record in this area.  This matter can be regularly updated.

INDEPENDENT SENATE CANDIDATE ORGANIZES 1st WEEK AFTER QUALIFICATION

Spring Hill:  Monday, May 22, 2006---Independent U.S. Senatorial Candidate Brian Moore completed his first week of campaigning this weekend by conducting organizational meetings in Inverness (Citrus County) and Ocala (Marion County) with volunteers and staff, as well as meeting with past contributors to his earlier campaigns for congress.

The first week included attending an antiwar vigil in Hernando County's city of Spring Hill last, Thursday, fundraising on the telephone and completing work on his expanding website.  The campaign web, www.votebrianmoore.com,  now includes a blog that he expects to activate this week with regular comments and reports from the field on the campaign.

While in Ocala this past Saturday, Moore met with Delfine Herbert, leader of the Marions for Peace  group, as they finalized plans for two public meetings at several public libraries on June 1st in Ocala, one session to be held in mid-afternoon, and the second in the early evening.

While in Ocala, Moore also appointed Darcy Richardson, from Jacksonville, as his Campaign Manager.  The Independent candidate expects to appoint a permanent treasurer to the campaign by the end of this week, with Mr. Richardson's assistance.

Richardson is a former Independent political candidate in both the states of Pennsylvania and Florida, once for the U.S. Senate in Pennsylvania.  He is also a frequent writer and author of books on the influence of Independents and third parties in America.

Moore also met with contributors in both Inverness and Ocala and collected several respectable donations in both communities.

Moore completed his first week with some physical exercise, which he plans to emphasize throughout his campaign when visiting Florida's 67 counties.  The left-handed first baseman participated in a 9-inning baseball game for the Giants baseball team from Spring Hill Sunday.  The team is in the NatureCoast Adult Baseball League, where he has participated in since 2000 in Florida.

Moore had a good day at Kennedy Park in Brooksville, going two for four, with one of the hits being a home run he hit over the right field fence.  The senatorial candidate also made a game-saving catch of a line drive hit down the first base line with the opponents leading 8 to 7 and with the bases loaded and two outs.  Moore's team won the game, 13 to 8.  Moore says most of the players are in their mid-20's, but he says "He still can compete with them when it comes to hitting and fielding."   He acknowledges that "in the running part there are limitations!"

Black Community's Problem Compared to Government's Growing Secrecy at Juneteenth Event in Brooksville

US SENATE CANDIDATE HIGHLIGHTS PUBLIC'S RIGHT TO KNOW AND GOVERNMENT MUST BE OPEN TO THE PUBLIC

Spring Hill, Sunday, June 18, 2006:

Independent candidate Brian Moore, running for the US Senate against incumbent Democrat Bill Nelson, spoke Saturday afternoon on the steps of the Hernando County courthouse in Brooksville, joining 50 other people, in drawing attention to problems faced by Brooksville's black community.

Moore addressed the issue of "government secrecy" using as an example the slow-moving cleanup of the county's former public works compound in Brooksville's minority community, where traces of arsenic and oil runoff were found as long ago as 1991, but are just now being seriously investigated.  Residents contend that the contamination has run into their yards and made them sick, and are now threatening the county government with litigation.

The Independent U.S. senatorial candidate, also a resident of Hernando County, quoted a Common Cause statement that "Government must be open to the public, and that it needs to be run by men and women who adhere to the laws and guidelines that ensure the free flow of ideas."  Moore emphasized that when public officials make decisions, cast votes or debate important issues, "they must do those things in the open."

The candidate agreed with Common Cause that “Openness helps root out abuse of power, bad decisions or embarrassing facts that may put lives at risk.”   Moore, who has been an antiwar activist for the past four years, offered an analogy to the Brooksville community’s health problem situation with an example of how government secrecy can put lives at risk (referenced by OpenTheGovernment.org coalition):  the military gave U.S. troops in Iraq body armor vests that failed ballistics tests.  Documented by reports obtained under the federal freedom of information act (FOIA) this decision was reversed and the body armor recalled once the story was about to hit the newsstands.

Moore emphasized that open government means using available technologies to “bring citizens into government,” through broadcasting meetings on cable TV, webcasting or providing public records on the Internet, rather than hiding them in a file cabinet in a remote office.   Moore urged government, whether it is city, county, state or federal, to have open meetings, open records and total access under the Freedom of Information Laws.

The independent senatorial candidate then went on to offer to the audience in Brooksville a litany of statistics on how the federal  government “continues to expand secrecy across a broad array of government action:  Moore blamed the Bush, Clinton and even earlier administrations for contributing to this “excessive secrecy.”  It extends to increased secret surveillance orders, classified activity, federal advisory meetings, new patents, fast-growing domestic surveillance and at least 50 types of designations the government now uses to restrict unclassified information from the public.

The candidate added secrecy laws in the state, taxpayer savings from whistleblowers, and the four million public requests for information from government in 2004 (a new record) as “strong indications of excessive government secrecy.”

Moore, in addition to his ongoing advocacy against the Iraq War, has also been a passionate protestor of the two Patriot Acts since their inception in September, 2001.  He is calling for the repeal of the recently reenacted law, if elected Florida’s next U.S. Senator.

Brian Moore said he strongly agrees with the OpenTheGovernment philosophy that we need to “make the federal government a more open place to make us safer, strengthen public trust in government and support our democratic principles.”

MOORE CHALLENGES KATHERINE HARRIS AT FRIDAY SENATORIAL FORUM OVER HER ACCUSATIONS AGAINST SENATORIAL NELSON

Independent U.S. Senate Candidate Also Takes On Nelson' s Record at Saturday Event With Greg Palast

Spring Hill, Florida, Sunday, June 24th: Brian Moore, an independent candidate for the U.S. Senate, challenged incumbent Republican Congresswoman Katherine Harris Friday night in Sarasota, at a Disabled American Veterans political forum. Moore, along with Ms. Harris, are both running for the U.S. Senate seat presently held by incumbent Democrat Bill Nelson.

Emphasizing that she was "so conservative, while Senator Nelson has a high liberal rating," Harris addressed the DAV audience for 15 minutes, claiming that the differences between herself and Nelson would provide a clear choice for voters in November. The Republican congresswoman was followed on the podium by independent antiwar aspirant Brian Moore, who challenged her assertion that there was a significant difference between herself and Senator Nelson. Moore stated that both Nelson and Harris have supported the continuing occupation of Iraq and the Patriot Acts I and II, while virtually mirroring one another in supporting last year's bankruptcy bill, the recent $69 billion tax cut for the wealthy and legislation to permanently repeal the Estate tax. Moore also declared that he "was the candidate that most differed from Mr. Nelson, and Ms. Harris, thus, giving the voters of Florida a clearer choice."

Moore also criticized both major party candidates, Democrat Nelson and Republican Harris, for their mutual ties to big corporations and dependence on special interest money; along with their own personal wealth and insensitivity to the plight of the middle and lower income Americans.

Moore customized the second half of his presentation to address veterans issues in four areas: 1) mandatory testing for depleted uranium for soldiers returning from Iraq; 2) mandatory funding for the Veterans Administration annually, on an increasing funding basis, instead of drastic cuts occurring and being studied for further cuts by a nationwide committee of military officers from the VA; 3) greater consideration for families of soldiers who have suffered catastrophic conditions or multiple amputation (Moore suggested payments in the millions of dollars per individual case as is now standard practice in the private sector involving similar conditions from automobile accidents); and 4) for the federal government to purchase ID theft protection for every military personnel for whom VA data was recently stolen.

Saturday night, Moore attended a WMNU Radio sponsored talk at the University of Tampa, with Greg Palast as its main speaker. Moore distributed his literature and personally introduced himself to about 100 of the 500 attendees for 45 minutes before the start of the evening event. Independent candidate Brian Moore was also formally presented by the radio hosts to the general audience at the start of the evening.

Many in attendance were progressive Democrats and wholeheartedly embraced Brian's platform, but still could not get around their feelings of loyalty to the Democratic Party. Moore said he was somewhat dismayed that so many progressive Democrats appeared willing to put party before principle by supporting someone as conservative as Nelson, whose positions on the critical issues of the day are closer to the GOP and in such stark contrast to those held by most Democrats. As an independent candidate, Moore also acknowledged that he has "plenty of work ahead of him" over the next five months and recognizes, now more than ever, the importance of getting his antiwar message out to activists throughout the Sunshine State.

Moore, once again, severely criticized Bill Nelson for recently voting with the Republican majority in the U.S. Senate in rejecting two Democratic-sponsored proposals to begin withdrawing U.S. troops from war-torn Iraq.

Moore, a 63-year-old executive recruiter in the health care industry, blasted Nelson for siding with the GOP-led Senate on this critical issue. “Senator Nelson not only opposed Sen. John Kerry’s courageous amendment calling for the withdrawal of all U.S. troops from Iraq by July 1 of next year, but was one of only six Democratic Senators to vote with the Republicans in opposing Michigan Sen. Carl Levin’s more cautious proposal to begin a troop pullout this year, but without a date set for completion of such a withdrawal. Nelson,” he said, “is not only on the wrong side of American public opinion on this critical issue, but is also outside the mainstream of his own party.”

PUBLIC’S POSITIVE RESPONSE TO DAYTONA BEACH PEACE VIGIL SHOCKS ANTIWAR CANDIDATE IN US SENATE RACE

Candidate Makes Introduction to Daytona Beach News Journal; appears on Tampa Channel 13 Fox TV Opposing Flag Amendment

Spring Hill, Florida, Friday, June 30th:

Brian Moore, an independent candidate for the U.S. Senate, opposing incumbent Democratic US Senator Bill Nelson, participated with three peace groups in Daytona Beach Thursday evening, protesting the Iraq War on the corner of Nova and International Blvd.  He said "he was shocked by the overwhelming positive reaction and support" passersby exhibited, with blaring horns, raised thumbs, shouts from car windows, and at times, candidate Moore exclaimed "a din so loud one could not hear oneself talk to other protesters."  Moore thought the county may be reflective of an area where there are no military bases, fewer retirees, and a predominantly younger and working class population.

Moore joined forces with the Veterans for Peace of Central Florida, CODEPINK of Volusia/Flagler and Florida’s Military Families Speak Out, also of Volusia County, all of whom have been demonstrating against the war and holding peace vigils on a weekly basis for the past year.  Moore also congratulated these "citizen dissidents" for their courage and leadership in the community for "standing up for what they believe in" and also for exhibiting "what real patriotism is all about."

The independent candidate from Spring Hill, Hernando County, also made a courtesy visit to the Daytona Beach News Journal newspaper to introduce himself.  He met with reporter James Miller, based in Deland, who is covering the US Senate race this year, according to his news director, Derek Catron.

Moore returned Thursday evening, making the 354 mile round trip in about eight hours.  The candidate was accompanied by his 9-year old son and 13 year old godson on the trip.

On Friday, Moore traveled to Tampa to participate in Channel 13 TV Fox afternoon program, “Your Turn,” with Kathy Fountain hosting a four-person panel to debate the recent flag amendment which failed by one vote in the US Senate on Wednesday.

Moore, who participated in the event with a flag store owner, retired military colonel, Ron Smith, and a Green Party activist and lawyer, Mark Kamleiter, stated his firm opposition to the proposed flag amendment to the US Constitution.  The candidate said the flag is a symbol and does not represent the true values and principles of our democracy, which is the right of free speech, public dissent, and many other liberties that no other country holds so dearly.  Moore accused the incumbent politicians like Nelson and Martinez, who voted for the amendment, of grandstanding, and “wrapping themselves in a mantel of patriotism.”

                                                                                                    ---------------------

Moore will campaign in Palm Beach, Martin and St. Lucie counties from Saturday, July 1 thru Tuesday, July 4th.  He plans on setting up a table at the Flagler July 4th event in Palm Beach County Tuesday, the Stuart Green market in Stuart, Martin county on Sunday, and plans to campaign in front of several minor league baseball stadiums prior to scheduled ballgames on Saturday and Monday.

MOORE WRAPS UP FOUR-DAY CAMPAIGN SWING THROUGH PALM BEACH & MARTIN COUNTIES

INDEPENDENT U.S. SENATE CANDIDATE THROWS OUT FIRST PITCH IN MINOR LEAGUE BASEBALL GAME

West Palm Beach, Florida — Brian Moore, an independent candidate for the U.S. Senate, threw out the ceremonial first pitch in last night’s minor league baseball game between the Jupiter Hammerheads and the Palm Beach Cardinals before an estimated crowd of 4,000 at Roger Dean Stadium in Jupiter.  Moore, who’s conducting a four-day campaign swing through Palm Beach and Martin counties, was introduced before the game as a candidate for the U.S. Senate.  Former Governor Claude R. Kirk, who served as governor of Florida from 1967-1971, was also introduced to the crowd in the pre-game festivities.  Kirk became the first Republican governor of Florida since Reconstruction, when he defeated Democrat Robert King High in the 1966 gubernatorial contest.  The former governor was attending the game with his daughter, Claudia Kirk Barto, executive director of the West Palm Beach office of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

After tossing the opening pitch — a high fast-ball that sailed over the catcher’s head — Moore exchanged pleasantries and had his photograph taken with former Governor Kirk.  Moore also briefly discussed his campaign for the U.S. Senate with the former governor.  The 63-year-old Moore, a resident of Spring Hill who doubles as the manager and first baseman for a team in the Nature Coast Adult Baseball League, is one of four independent candidates challenging Democratic Senator Bill Nelson and his likely GOP opponent, Katherine Harris, in this fall's U.S. Senate race.

On Sunday, Moore campaigned briefly at the Stuart Green Market and shook hands with voters while handing out campaign brochures for several hours outside a Publix grocery store in the same vicinity.  Earlier yesterday, the independent anti-war candidate had an hour-long meeting with radio station executive George E. Metcalf, President and Chief Executive Officer of WHLG 101.3FM in Stuart, Florida.  "Brian is waging a low-key, but vigorous grass-roots campaign that will eventually take him to all 67 counties in Florida," said Darcy Richardson, Moore's campaign manager.  "Brian doesn't enjoy a $13.7 million warchest like Senator Nelson, nor does he have a personal fortune of $10 million to whimsically spend on his own campaign, like Katherine Harris," Richardson said, "but he's still trying to reach as many ordinary Floridians as humanly possible.  He's pretty energetic and won't be out-hustled by any of his opponents."  Moore is winding up his four-day tour of Palm Beach and Martin counties today

with campaign stops at various shopping centers in both counties, including a brief stop at a Palm City shopping center earlier today, where he had the unique experience of witnessing the Discovery shuttle as it roared into orbit.  Moore's four-day swing through the area culminates in an appearance with some of his supporters at the Flagler Fourth of July Festival in West Palm Beach later today.

MOORE CRITICIZES SEN. NELSON FOR VOTING AGAINST IRAQ TROOP WITHDRAWAL

Independent U.S. Senate Candidate Chides Nelson for Siding with GOP

Brian Moore, an independent candidate for the U.S. Senate, today sharply criticized incumbent Democratic Sen. Bill Nelson for voting with the Republican majority in the U.S.

An outspoken and early critic of the Iraq War, Moore, a resident of Spring Hill, is chairman and co-founder of the Nature Coast Coalition for Peace & Justice.  In announcing his candidacy on May 12, Moore called for the withdrawal of all U.S. troops and corporations from Iraq within a six-month period, to be replaced by a United Nations peacekeeping force with full authority for the reconstruction of that war-ravaged nation.  Moore said that his proposal would give the Iraqis the true sovereignty they are seeking, while providing that fledgling government with the additional security of a truly international peacekeeping force.

Moore has been highly critical of Nelson, who continues to wholeheartedly support the unjustified and costly American occupation of Iraq — a quagmire that former Florida Senator Bob Graham presciently warned against in 2002.  “Bill Nelson just doesn’t get it,” Moore asserted.  “He’s proven time and again to be one of the Bush Administration’s most ardent supporters when it comes to this misguided and disastrous war.”

MOORE CALLS FOR IMPEACHMENT OF BUSH AND CHENEY

INDEPENDENT U.S. SENATE CANDIDATE URGES AMERICAN PEOPLE TO REMOVE BUSH FROM OFFICE

Tampa, Florida:  Brian Moore, an independent candidate for the U.S. Senate, in a live one-hour television debate Saturday evening with two Republican activists on the Tampa Bay Community Network of Hillsborough County, called for President George W. Bush's and Vice President Richard Cheney immediate removal from office and encouraged the American people to push for such action as well.

Moore declared that both President Bush and Vice President Cheney were guilty of  high crimes and misdemeanors, when it came to deliberately misleading the American people into the war in Iraq, violating the sovereignty of a sacred nation, violating the rights of civilian and military prisoners, setting policies responsible for abusing and torturing detainees to extract information and transferring prisoners to foreign countries where international law, the Geneva Conventions, and common human decency are not respected, or practiced.

Moore further justified his call for impeachment of our country's leaders on grounds that the rights and freedoms of all Americans are now in serious jeopardy due to provisions of the Patriot Act, the NSA domestic spying activities, the warrant-less searches of American homes in violation of the FISA Act, and the secret data mining of the telephone and banking records of tens of millions of ordinary Americans, Moore declared.

In his television appearance, the feisty independent candidate asserted that America's security and safety "is more in danger now than ever before."  He said that President Bush has repeatedly demonstrated reckless behavior when it has come to foreign policy and domestic safety, and, as a result, we are now in peril from all sides, with potential crises looming in Iran, North Korea and the Middle East, not to speak of our self-imposed struggles with Iraq and Afghanistan.

Moore said the citizens of the United States should take back control of its destiny before wealthy leaders, who rule for economic and selfish reasons, put our country in danger of demise.

The  debate was billed as a non-political event, more as a discussion on the crucial issues facing the country, and was hosted by Kris Krimitsos, TV Producer, TBCN 19 & 20 of Tampa.  The two Republican participants were Bulent Arlsan, a former citizen of Turkey, and Andrew Kovics, a former president of young Republicans during his college days.

Topics included social security, immigration and Afghanistan.

During the hour-long program, Moore said that he didn't feel uncomfortable debating two Republicans simultaneously, saying that he is involved in a similar situation in

his U.S. Senate race.  "I feel like I'm running against two Republicans,” incumbent Senator Bill Nelson--masquerading as a Democrat--and Republican Congresswoman Katherine Harris," quipped Moore.

Moore will be participating in an antiwar demonstration in Sarasota on Sunday, July 9th, from 11 AM to 2 PM at the Bayfront Community Center, 803 N. Tamiami Trail.  To participate, Moore cancelled his scheduled participation in his weekly Sunday, adult baseball league.

MOORE CALLS FOR CEASE-FIRE IN MIDDLE EAST

Independent U.S. Senate Candidate Blames Bush Administration for Israel's Reckless Destruction of Lebanon and Gaza Strip

in Tampa. (Photo by Sebastian Melgar)

TAMPA, FLORIDA -- Brian Moore, an independent anti-war challenger to Democratic Senator Bill Nelson, called on President Bush and members of the U.S. Senate today to demand an immediate end to Israel's unlawful invasion of Lebanon and its massive, unwarranted destruction of civilian populations and infrastructure in Lebanon and the Gaza Strip.

Participating in a "Rally for Peace" sponsored by the Organization of Arab Students in Solidarity" (OASIS) in Tampa on Saturday afternoon, where over two hundred protesters of the Israeli invasion gathered, Moore said that President Bush and U.S. officials should press for an immediate end to the hostility and violence on both sides and called for immediate multilateral negotiations to achieve peace and security in the region, especially for the tens of thousands of Palestinian and Lebanese citizens who have been displaced by the Israeli assaults on those areas. Moore, who is co-founder and chairman of the Nature Coast Coalition for Peace and Justice and an outspoken opponent of the U.S. occupation of Iraq, said the current U.S. reaction to Israel's deadly and destructive behavior in Lebanon and the Gaza Strip has been an "utter disaster."

"We want peace for both countries, and that Israel should get out of Lebanon immediately," said Evi Cheaib, the organizer and leader of today's OASIS rally. In a conversation with the independent U.S. Senate hopeful, Ms. Cheaib further emphasized that the United States should call for "an immediate cease fire" for the region. She added that all countries in the Middle East "needed to be treated equally," and that Israel should not be favored over or above the other countries in that region by the United States.

"The Bush Administration's approval of Israel's violent behavior in this international crisis is indicative of this country's overwhelmingly one-sided policy in the Middle East," said Moore. "As this conflict continues to escalate, there won't be a Muslim anywhere in the world who won't be calling for Israeli blood. We have to stop the violence and bring peace to that region." Moore also called on members of the U.S. Senate, including Florida Senator Bill Nelson, to bring pressure on the Bush Administration to act in the interests of all parties involved, not just Israel. "The U.S. Senate should be exerting its moral authority by condemning Israel's aggressive military behavior," declared Moore. "Where is the leadership?" he asked.

Moore was particularly critical of the Bush Administration's slow and tepid reaction to the growing crisis in Lebanon, especially their sluggish response in safely evacuating American citizens from that increasingly dangerous and war-ravaged country. "They probably thought it was a hurricane," Moore quipped.

The independent candidate also said that a widening conflict in that region could further endanger U.S. troops in Iraq, a country now teetering on a full-scale civil war. In announcing his candidacy on May 12, the 63-year-old Moore, an executive recruiter in the health care industry, called for the immediate withdrawal of American troops and corporations from Iraq to be replaced by a UN peacekeeping force with full authority for the protection and reconstruction of that war-torn nation.

MOORE BLASTS CUBAN-AMERICANS ON NATIONWIDE RADIO FOR "DISGUSTING" BEHAVIOR IN STREETS OF MIAMI DURING CASTRO'S ILLNESS

Assails Senator Bill Nelson's call to dissident Cubans to Undermine the Cuban Government

TAMPA, FLORIDA -- Brian Moore, an independent anti-war challenger to Democratic Senator Bill Nelson, criticized the Cuban-American community in Miami, Florida, on nationwide radio Thursday night.  Appearing on the Bob Kincaid Show, a nationally-syndicated talk radio show based in West Virginia, Moore labeled the Cuban-Americans in South Florida as "right-wing conservatives" and "hard-hearted people without souls."  Moore denounced the Cuban-Americans in Miami for cheering in the streets at the prospect of Castro's death.  Denouncing their behavior as "disgusting," Moore said that he wished they would all go back to Cuba — but wouldn't want to wish that on the Cuban people.

The independent senatorial candidate, who is challenging Democratic Sen. Bill Nelson in this fall's election, also criticized the incumbent for urging Cuban dissidents to "be ready to assert your independence" by undermining Fidel Castro's government at a moment when the longtime Cuban leader is perceived to be in a weakened state.  Moore, who is highly critical of Nelson's legislation calling for $80 million in aid to Cuban dissidents, told his radio audience that this was typical of Florida's ranking U.S. Senator.   "He thinks he is promoting his patriotism by kicking the Cuban leader when he is down, just because President Castro is an avowed communist."  Moore said that Nelson "always plays it safe" and only displays leadership on issues of little or no consequence.  "When it comes to the Iraq War, the Patriot Act, repealing taxes for the wealthy or the need for a national health plan for all Americans, this man is silent or bought out," he asserted.

During the hour-long broadcast, Moore also continued his criticism of Israel, its flagrant invasion of Lebanon and indiscriminate killing of innocent civilians.  Moore called upon leaders and citizens from the Jewish community in Florida to speak up and criticize Israel's actions.

Throughout the program, the feisty dark-horse candidate railed against the two-party system, arguing that Democratic and Republicans politicians alike have been "bought off" by corporate interests and special interest groups.  In addition to sharply criticizing the Bush Administration and the Republican majority in Congress, Moore also faulted the leaderless Democrats for America's involvement in Iraq and the Patriot Act.  He also blasted both parties for advocating free trade policies and ignoring the country's growing health care crisis.  Politicians of both major parties, said Moore, lacked courage and spine when it comes to standing up for principle and representing the common good.

Kincaid and Moore also talked at length on the lack of ethics in America politics.  Kincaid summed up the show by stating that he thought that Brian Moore represented a "New party of conscience" for America.  "This is quickly turning into a three-way contest," said Darcy Richardson, Moore's campaign manager.  "Brian's campaign is beginning to prick the conscience of Floridians, especially those who are sick and tired of politics as usual."

INDEPENDENT SENATE CANDIDATE HIGHLIGHTS UNIQUE BACKGROUND WITH SOCIAL JUSTICE GROUPS IN ORLANDO

Moore Shares His Antiwar and Public Health Experience, Peace Corps Work in Latin America and Studies in Franciscan Religious Order Serving the Poor

Maverick Candidate Continues His Attack on Major-Party Rivals for their Hypocritical Support of Cuban-Americans

ORLANDO, FLORIDA -- Brian Moore, an independent anti-war challenger to Democratic Senator Bill Nelson, attended the Central Florida Social Justice Gathering at the First Unitarian Church of Orlando on Saturday (1901 E. Robertson St).  Close to fifty participants from an estimated ten central Florida counties attended the day-long conference representing such diverse groups as the Farm Workers, Code Pink Against the War, Coalition for Peace & Justice, Acorn, Quaker Peace Center, United Way, Jobs & Justice, Florida PIN, The New Earth, Poor People's  Human Rights, Marions for Peace, Peace Now Citrus, Equality, and others.

The Independent candidate briefly introduced himself to the group and individually met with a variety of leaders of their respective organizations who attended the event.  Moore, himself the co-founder of the Coalition for Peace and Justice in the Nature Coast area of Florida for the last four years, was an outspoken opponent of the Iraq War Resolution in 2002 and the subsequent invasion of that country.  He has also been an undaunted critic of the Patriot Act.  During the one-day summit, Moore shared his unique experiences regarding a variety of social causes, including his service as a Peace Corps volunteer in Latin America for three years and later as a consultant for a non-profit agency, where he was involved in a $3 million de-worming project that protected over one million indigent children from parasitic infections in some of the most poverty-stricken areas of Brazil, Guatemala, Colombia and the Dominican Republic.  He also spoke about his experience studying and training as a Catholic priest in the Franciscan Order, whose mission was to serve the poor in social service and spiritual matters.

The fiery dark-horse candidate also released a letter on Saturday to the editors of the two local newspapers in his home county of Hernando; the St. Petersburg Times and the Tampa Tribune's Hernando Today editions.  In his hard-hitting letter-to-the-editor, Moore accused Senator Bill Nelson and Congresswoman Katherine Harris, his major-party opponents in this autumn's U.S. Senate race, of hypocrisy and ineptitude.  Moore said that their "support of Cuban-Americans" during Fidel Castro's illness has been "phony and artificial" — a classic case of political pandering.  Moore added that Nelson and his likely GOP rival Katherine Harris are "using the Cuban people for their own selfish purposes, and don't give a damn about the welfare of Cuba, nor those Cuban-Americans who reside in Florida."

Continuing on a theme he first discussed in a nationally-syndicated radio show on Thursday evening, Moore also blasted Cuban-American leaders in Miami, not only for their "disgusting" behavior earlier this week when thousands of them danced in the streets in response to news of President Castro's life-threatening illness, but for their "un-democratic and un-American actions" as citizens of the United States over the past five decades.  Moore said Cuban-Americans have virtually "gotten away with murder, and acted like tyrants and despots, blocking, intimidating, ridiculing and besmirching the reputations of any entertainer, sports hero, or fellow countryman who dared to defend, support, compliment or take sides with Castro's government."  He also accused them of giving the same sort of treatment to anyone who has had the courage to oppose the decades-long U.S. embargo that has not only hampered the Cuban economy, but has also needlessly wrecked havoc on the health and welfare of that island nation's poor and low-income inhabitants.

Moore also criticized U.S. immigration policies that have given preferable treatment to Cuban immigrants and was highly critical of the Cuban-American community for virtually transforming the Miami area into a "non-American city," largely as a result of their exclusive use of the Spanish language and their arrogant treatment of people who do not speak their language or practice their culture.

INDEPENDENT U.S. SENATE ASPIRANT CRITICIZES NELSON'S VOTE ON CUTTING ESTATE TAX FOR THE WEALTHY

Criticizes Democratic lawmaker for again voting with GOP majority; calls it "biggest giveaway" in U.S. history

ORLANDO, FLORIDA -- Independent U.S. Senate candidate Brian Moore yesterday sharply criticized Democratic Senator Bill Nelson for again abandoning his own party in supporting legislation designed to significantly slash the estate tax.  "This is one of the biggest giveaways to the super-rich in American history," asserted Moore, who was campaigning at a Social Justice Conference in Orlando on Saturday.  "This legislation is being financed and lobbied by eighteen of the wealthiest families in the United States, including the owners of Wal-Mart," he said.  "These affluent families stand to save $71.6 billion in taxes if this eventually becomes law."

The estate tax legislation, which was tied to a modest increase in the federal minimum wage from $5.15 an hour to $7.25 an hour over a three-year period — the first such increase in nine years — fell four votes short of the sixty votes required to shut off debate and bring the bill to a vote late Thursday night.  If approved, the latest measure would have raised the estate-and-gift tax exemption to $5 million for an individual and $10 million for a married couple.  A longtime proponent of abolishing the estate tax, Nelson was one of three renegade Democrats who sided with the GOP in its efforts to permanently repeal the so-called "death tax" two months ago, legislation that would have eventually cost American taxpayers more than one trillion dollars in lost revenue.

"Bill Nelson is clearly outside the mainstream of his own party on this issue," declared Moore.  "Even two Senate Republicans — Lincoln Chafee of Rhode Island and Ohio's George Voinovich — had the good sense to oppose this sham," he said.  "The fact that the Republican majority shamelessly tried to link this issue with a meager increase in the minimum wage is despicable, but the fact that Nelson went along with their charade is even worse," asserted Moore, who favors a living wage of $15 per hour and a $10 an hour minimum wage.

Noting that organized labor and virtually every progressive organization in the country is strongly opposed to cutting or repealing the estate tax, the independent Senate hopeful said that slashing or abolishing the estate tax would create a permanent "hereditary class of affluence" in the United States, further dividing the nation between economic classes.  "While Congress is doing nothing for the financially-strapped middle-class in this country, they seem hell-bent on rewarding the least deserving of all — the hereditary elite," he said.  "Bill Nelson should be ashamed of himself."

Sen. Bill Frist (R-TN) has promised to bring the issue up again when Congress reconvenes in September.
